Defending the American Dream- Oct. 2-3
(A project of Americans for Prosperity Foundation)
As you read this, President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid are feverishly spending billions of dollars of your hard-earned money in order to expand the size and scope of the federal government.

This includes a $1 trillion “stimulus” bill, along with billions of dollars in bailouts for the auto industry (to benefit their union allies) and even banks, such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In addition, there are discussions in Congress about cap-and-trade energy policies, which will directly affect families and businesses in the form of higher utility bills and gasoline prices. In addition, there is the government takeover of health care that will leave you and your loved ones waiting in long lines for needed medical care, while government bureaucrats get between you and your doctor.

With so much at stake, now is the time to take a stand for your country and for your future. Join thousands of grassroots activists in Washington, DC at Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s third annual Defending the American Dream Summit on Oct. 2-3.  To sign up, visit: http://defendingthedream.org/beta/

KBDI Health Care Debate (August 19, 2009)
I recently had the opportunity to debate with prominent leaders of AARP, The American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Colorado Medical Society.  Appearing on the Colorado PBS program, “Studio 12,” I refuted widely-held media assumptions that public opposition to government-run health care is based on “misinformation,” and that the public has not read the health care bill.  It is an interesting debate if you want to understand the arguments from the other side.  Click here to watch the debate: http://www.kbdi.org/on_demand/video_player.cfm?series=17056994

The Leadership Program of the Rockies (LPR)
The Leadership Program of the Rockies (LPR) trains emerging leaders in America's founding principles -- why they were important in the beginning, and how they apply to the challenges of today. Then it teaches and fine-tunes the leadership skills necessary to impact public policy. The LPR experience is more than a one-time seminar or conference. Comprising nine full-day sessions and multiple events throughout the year, the organization is designed to have nothing less than an enduring impact on the knowledge and capabilities of its graduates -- and, fundamentally, on the preservation of the American idea. Its information-packed classes are limited to sixty-five high-caliber students, and led by an elite team of local leaders and nationally recognized experts.

Heritage Foundation Study on Cap and Trade
On June 26, 2009, a 1,427-page climate change bill introduced by Representatives Henry Waxman (D–CA) and Edward Markey (D–MA) passed in the House of Representatives by a narrow margin. In this hard-hitting report from the Heritage Foundation, a number of alarming provisions are revealed, including a cap-and-trade program that would attempt to curb global warming by imposing strict upper limits on the emission of six greenhouse gases, with the primary emphasis on carbon dioxide (CO2). The mechanism for capping these emissions requires emitters to acquire federally created permits (or "allowances") for each ton of greenhouse gas emitted.

If Waxman-Markey were to pass in the Senate, the impact on families and business would be devastating. The report also outlines the direct economic impact of Waxman-Markey here in Colorado.  To view this report, click here.
