1. Flashback: Democrats on Presidential School Speeches Then and Now

White House officials say Obama's telecast will be the first speech by a sitting president to stress academic achievement since 1991, when President George H. W. Bush spoke to students from Deal Junior High School in Washington, D.C.

Democrats, of course, sang a far different tune when a Republican was preparing to address the nation's school children.

Then-House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt (D-Missouri) said, "The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the President."

To be clear, the Department of Education is only a tool of indoctrination when the Secretary of Education answers to a Republican President. When students are instructed to "help the president" and no doubt support his anemic legislative agenda, it's a teaching experience - namely the lesson of political double standards.

2. Where will you be next week?

This year has seen a surge in conservative activism like I've never seen in my adult life. Many of you here at Redstate have been a part of that. We've been to tea parties. We've donated money to candidates and to causes. We've spoken up at the town hall meetings. We gathered in Atlanta. We emailed and called capitol hill. We acted.

Next week, for many people, the activity, the protests, and the activism will reach a peak. The President is speaking to schools, and the people are speaking back. We'll be keeping our children home. We'll be marching on Washington. And we'll be rallying around the country throughout the week.

I plan to be a part of the activism next week. I'll be at one of the biggest planned rallies outside DC, in Salt Lake City, Utah. We'll follow the march, meeting fellow activist conservatives and, most importantly, participate in training and discussion about what's next for conservatives who want to be active in our movement. 3. I would like to thank the pro-health care rationing folks for their help.

Thanks in large part to your activities - and according to Rasmussen:

• 49% "have a favorable opinion of those opposing the health care reforms at town hall meetings" (41% last month).
• 59% "say the town hall protesters are citizens reflecting the concerns of their neighbors (49% last month).
• 56% "say that it's more important for Congressmen to hear the view of their constituents rather than explain the proposed health care legislation."

And, best of all? While Democrats disagree on all three of those - Republicans and independents don't.

4. Sabato: Democrats Likely to Lose 23-41 House Seats Next Year

Larry Sabato is among the most respected election analysts working today. His election predictions are consistently among the most accurate around.

Given Sabato's track record, you'd be wise to pay attention when he twitters something like this . . .

5. Yarmuth: I Don't Know How We'll Pay for Health Care

There are ample reasons to oppose the health care agenda put forth by Barack Obama and the Congressional Democrats: it will force people to give up private insurance in favor of government-run care. It will lead to rationed care. It will fund abortion. And despite the president's promises, it will add to the deficit - a deficit that's already expected to exceed $9 trillion over the next decade.

On this last point - how health care would be paid for - Representative John Yarmuth is at least honest with his constituents . . .
